Indian Rocks Beach 2021
There’s probably no better way to share our vacation than just posting photos. Here are a few favorites.
The weather was terrific. Not too hot, not too cold. We had some rain on the weekend we visited, but that was the end of it for the week. I still love traveling in the south during the spring, when trees are fully leaved while they are bare back home. Given the timing of our trip, by the time we get back trees have budded but aren’t quite as full as we see down there.
We had no big incidents with sunburn. We brought our trusty shade tent and I bought a few extra sun shirts. I also really caked the sun screen on and updated it frequently. In the past I’ve burnt everything from the tops of my feet to my upper chest and I’m done with that unpleasantness.
I liked using the available gas grills out next to the pool. I made some tasty boneless strips and barbecue chicken. Everyone liked the food I prepared. Next time I want to stop at a seafood shop and grill shrimp, lobster, and grouper.
Overall it was pretty quiet. I did see an unfortunate instance of an inebriated woman lying outside on the road. She was probably over served at one of the bars up the street. I called 911 and the police and medics came. She seemed to resist them and I am curious if she was charged with anything. I guess that is Florida during spring break, although it is rare for us to witness those type of shenanigans. It’s why we go to Indian Rocks and not Daytona or Panama City . Maybe because I’m older now but I don’t see the point of putting yourself into that kind of a situation. She was by all means blackout drunk and could’ve really been hurt.
I regret not buying a Nintendo Switch at Target down there. I’ve not seen those in stores, and when I saw it there I thought maybe they were back in stock again. Nope! Although we didn’t spend much time in the condo because of how nice the weather was, I think the boys would’ve enjoyed it nonetheless. I am still on a lookout for one of those.
I did get some fishing in and I’ll post separately on it. It was fun. I got to finally see what fly fishing in the salt was all about. I think I’ll do that again too.
We are looking forward to 2022. I suspect we’ll come to the same place again. We have all of our itinerary hammered out so planning isn’t as intense. Next year I hope we’ll get some more walking in, and dining. Our favorite restaurant down there closed, although we did find a delicious pizza parlor with wood fired pies. Very good.
I am glad we brought extended family. The boys got some one on one time with grandad and mawmaw. Maybe we can make this a family trip in the future and bring more people down.
