I have been blessed yet again as my second son was brought into this world this week. We are so happy and feeling incredibly blessed. All are healthy and doing well. I understand that I am lucky to be a dad. There was a point I didn’t think it would happen for me. Those were hard times. But I met someone amazing to share my life with and start a family and here we are today.

My experience has been that children can give your life meaning and purpose. These are the people that will judge your life and remember you after you’re gone. You can either chose to be a great parent or not. I am choosing to be a great dad. That’s the role I want to be remembered for more than anything else. It is what motivates me to improve myself and expand my wisdom. One day they’ll ask for advice and I want to be able to give it to them. I want to be able to give them direction and make them confident men in this world who are independent and free thinking.

Many successful people I know credit their dads with giving them direction and support in their life journeys. One other common perception I’ve found are that men either say their dads are their best friend, or dislike them. I don’t want to be the latter. I want my sons as adults to say I was always there for them and I gave them direction growing up. Even if I can’t give them everything in the world, I can give them my time, which is the most valuable thing of all.
