Kings Island 2019

Kings Island 2019

We went up to the observation deck on the Eiffel Tower in Kings Island to get an overview of the park. While I was up there I snapped a few pics and shared them below. Maybe we can do this every year and post on here what changes or what we think will change. It would be fun to see what happens over the years.

Some observations so far:

  • Demolition of FireHawk seems complete and the rumors of a “Giga” coaster seem to bear fruit. I’d assume that it will go in the cleared space between the river and the Racer at some point. Giga coasters are supposed to be over 300 feet tall. That addition will see this park punching outside of its weight class in terms of attractions. Awesome!
  • The park got a much needed facelift. Although there aren’t a lot of new attractions (Kings Island always seems to add one every other year), there is clearly a lot of new paint and landscaping. The stamped concrete path along International Mall is a nice upgrade.
  • The new clock face and entrance at the Fest Haus brings back the little dancing characters. Reminds me of being a kid again (because that’s probably the last time they worked).
  • There seems to be a lot more management from Cedar Fair roaming around than we’ve seen in the past. We’ve noticed a little more polish from the concessionaires and ride operators. It’s safe to say that post acquisition management practices are fully in place and perhaps their culture is in position.
  • There’s a new laser and music show to close the park. Maybe we can stay late enough to see it.
