Kings Island WinterFest 2019

Kings Island WinterFest 2019

Kings Island WinterFest seems to keep getting better every year. When we first attended, years back, it was just a bunch of lights that were in a few areas of the park, with a few side excursions, most notably ice skating on the water fountain in International Mall.

This year it seems that Kings Island has really stepped up the entertainment aspect of the event and added quite a few more options. We noted that while walking through Planet Snoopy that we had the choice of decorating an ornament, listening to a group sing and dance, or see a musical about the Nativity. After partaking in a few sights, we made our way to Coney Island Mall and along the way there spotted some singers on the LaRosa’s porch (I thought this was a clever use of space).

We are hoping that they try to emulate Dollywood’s “Christmas in the Smokies” and capture some of the success there. It would be cool to have something like that closer to home. I think they’re on the way specifically because they’ve improved the quality of performers. In the past, Kings Island seemed to hire college aged kids but we noted that many we saw were older and more professional. If you want to try to harness Dollywood’s feel you’ll need seasoned players, because they seem to have some very talented people there in our opinion.
