Visit To Cincinnati Zoo, Independence Day Parade, And An X-Box

Cincinnati Zoo – Great to be back for our July visit to Cincinnati Zoo. We try to go once a month. The weather was fantastic and the crowds were fairly light for a beautiful day like today. I brought the camera, and captured a few new photos from their collection I’ve not landed yet. The Zoo Pics page is updated. I need a checklist of the animals there so I can see if I captured all of them. I kind of treat this like a Pokemon. Got to catch them all! I do enjoy nature photography, although I admit I shoot everything on auto. I know that is the photographer’s curse word but I just don’t have the time to figure out another hobby yet. Plus, the camera actually does a pretty great job in my opinion.

A few notes – the food at the zoo is really improving. We tried the kebabs and they were very tasty. I would get them again. The sloth is being housed away for breeding.

Independence Day Parade – A terrific day for a parade. This is our second year attending. My wife and both sons rode the float for Dominach’s TaeKwonDo while I watched along the parade route. My sister in-law and her family joined which was nice because they are always fun to be around. I also ran into a cub scout family too. I’m starting to build a community around myself and my family in our little city and I am grateful for it. Also, Independence does a great job on this parade. The festival is a lot of fun too. We visited that and had a few snacks and beers, rode the slide. We did not stay for the music or fireworks. Are kids were done and wanted to go home. We did watch them from the public television channel. Perhaps next year we’ll stay for the fireworks as they are supposedly really good and you can see them up close. I used to go here all the time when I was a kid as one of my friends worked for the fireworks company that puts on the show. It was always fun (RIP Jason).

A few notes – make sure to bring a bag to grab candy. Also the popsicles were really popular since it was so warm outside. The path to get to our spot is paved but you need to go out the front entrance from SVA. Always bring a chair and enough water.

X-Box – We joined the console club and purchased an X-Box Series S. Costco has them in stock. I chose the digital version and the monthly subscription option to Game Pass for console and PC. I don’t plan on purchasing any games since I already own so many on my PC and the Nintendo Switch. I went with the PC option on the sub so I could try some games out too. So far I’ve downloaded the Ascent and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

A few notes – probably need a way to keep the controllers charged.
