Dublin, Ohio
Every year we drive past Dublin OH and I say, “this place is pretty cool we should stop in for a visit.” This year we finally did just that. We went to Columbus Zoo for the day and then stayed in town and ate dinner. Here are a few bullet points.
Layout – I am thoroughly impressed with the way cities are being planned now. My understanding is that with Cardinal Health and Wendy’s corporate being here, the city wanted to find a way for people to move here instead of commute in. They set out to build this master planned community and they couldn’t have done better. It’s very modern, walk friendly, with plenty of things to do. It’s a mixed office space/residential/entertainment district. This would be a wonderful place to live if you’re a younger, college educated person to be honest.
Walking – We walked across the “Dublin Link” a brand new pedestrian friendly bridge that goes over the Scioto River. It connects old and new Dublin, the latter which is called the Dublin Bridge Street District. There’s plenty of places to sit down and chill, and there’s a bigger park being built right along the river that’s going to be really nice. This area is awesome.
Eating – There are plenty of restaurants here to eat. We had an amazing dinner at Z Cucina. They have fresh pasta and an amazing cocktail menu. Our boys ate well and loved it. We’d 100% come back here again. The owner was very friendly and very good to us. If I come back I want to try the ramen place next to our hotel for lunch if possible.
Feel – Make no mistake, this is an affluent community. Lots of money, sports cars, and people who look like they have important jobs. It’s interesting, today’s successful people all have a look about them. The women are ripped and the men are thin. Almost the opposite of what you’d expect. We did see a few people in bonnets, which is common place for this part of Ohio.
Stay – We stayed at the Spring Hill Suites. I liked the design of it. Very modern, cutting edge almost and very reasonable rates. It was full of families and men’s golfing groups while we were there (the Muirfield Golf Club, which hosts a PGA championship is nearby). If we don’t stay here again in the future, we’d probably chose the AC Hotel, which is also a Marriott property but with more amenities.
