Kings Island WinterFest

Kings Island WinterFest

Kings Island WinterFest did not disappoint. We enjoyed our visit to the park as the last year’s was cancelled due to the pandemic. Kings Island did not miss a step since then.

Our first stop was at the buffet at the International Restaurant. Seeing the insides of this facility was tops on my list for years. I’ve always been curious about it and said if I had a chance we would go there. I can’t remember the last time it’s been open, maybe when Paramount owned the park many years ago?

I am glad Cedar Point decided to reuse the space. There’s also been a concerted effort to improve dining at the park that I also think is paying off. The food is much improved over the years and will become part of the attraction soon I think.

The menu at the buffet, and I should note this was the first buffet I’ve been to since the start of the pandemic, was very tasty. They offered two salads, bread, and potato soup as an appetizer. The proteins included a very good smoked turkey breast, and there were also sides of chicken satay and chicken in couscous. The green beans and grilled eggplant were tasty as well. You ordered desert from the waiter and we liked everything we got. I would go back here next year for sure.

Kings Island definitely improved the parade. We were throughly impressed with it. The floats, costumes, music, and spectacle all seemed very professional to us. My boys loved it.

We did learn a little secret. It seems the park completely empties after the parade, but stays open for another hour and half while keeping the events and kiddie rides open. We literally had that place to ourselves until closing time. Staying later didn’t put us in a bind as my wife and kids are all on holiday break, so why not stay and enjoy it?
