Kings Island Summer Visit

Kings Island Summer Visit

Our visit to Kings Island for Father’s Day was one of the best visits I’ve ever experienced. For once, and only once, I was allowed to set the agenda for the day. This meant puttering around, eating every 45 minutes, people watching, watching my kids ride rides, and not standing in any long lines. There were also a few other things I wanted to do that I’ve seen posted on a Facebook group I follow for Kings Island Season Pass Holders. These people are as nerdy over KI as some of the weirdo WDW fanatics (although not as obnoxious). Here were the additional things we did.

1. Checked out the revamped carousel – evidently they rejuvenated the ride and it looks and sounds great. I love this ride because of its antiquity. It’s the oldest ride in the park and predates it by several decades. They repaired the mechanical sound system in it and it sounds great.

2. Watched “Phantom Theater Encore” – I loved the Phantom Theater when I was a kid. So did my mom because it was air conditioned and she could sit. Lots of great memories there. The show as a ton of fun and really creative. The shows at KI are really good. They used to be just high school kids but the actors and productions today are a little more professional looking. Lots of fun.

3. Saw the new scenes on the train – evidently they put in new animations on the train and I checked those out too. The fort is still there and still a mess. That’s probably the next thing that needs to go honestly.

4. Checked out the garden – the old Paramount garden park was redeveloped. I liked it a lot and it was a nice place to check out and read the history on the foot path. Usually this was a place that people crouched into smoke but I found it fairly pleasant place to relax.

5. Saw the new arcades – evidently the arcades were revamped and are being managed by an outside company. Everything here looks the same except for some new carpeting. I was able to swap out the points and money on my old card to a new card that can only be used there. That’s confusing but whatever.

6. Ate great food – I tried a new sweet treat and the smoked sausage. That was really good. I kind of pigged out here but that’s what I wanted to do!

7. Enjoyed being with my sons – these two guys are so much fun. I love watching them laugh on rides. I hope they are making great memories here like I did when I was a kid.
