Red White Boom, Kings Island
Red, White and Boom!
This was our second year coming to see the Cincinnati Pops’s Fourth Of July show. I think it’s going to be our new tradition. For one, I like the music and the patriotic feel to it. The performance ends with a terrific fireworks festival that is shot from a barge right next to where you seat, so the fireworks are almost directly overhead. The crowd in particular is really chill and actually happy to see us. You would be surprised how many nice older folks come up and talk to us about our children. I guess we have cute kids. Finally, the price per ticket is incredibly affordable and a true value. If we chose to be in the “lawn” seating sections the kids would actually be free to enter. I am a big fan of traditions, as you can tell, as I think that is where memories are made. I hope we can continue this tradition for some time and bring some of our family or friends with us.
Kings Island Visit
We went off to Kings Island again. I had a great time with just myself and Ben roaming around the park. Leslie and Ted went off to ride together since Ted is now tall enough for coasters. Since Ben is too short for most rides outside of the Peanuts/kiddie land we usually hang out and have some fun. First we stopped by Cinnabon which had a very short line and enjoyed a hot cinnamon bun, which he loved. We also rode some slower rides and purchased some treats at the candy shop. Sometimes you just need to spend some 1:1 with your kids individually. My mom did this with myself and my three siblings until my father passed away, and then there wasn’t much time for her to split that out with us. I can’t remember my father ever doing it so I am happy to start it as a father with my children. I think your relationship can grow with your loved ones if you set some time apart and just make sure they know how much you appreciate them. Plus, there’s no sibling rivalry to contend with and you can just shower them with love, just the two of you. You also find out a lot about them as they open up and discuss their feelings. That is really the best part about the experience.
