Basketball Season Underway

Ben is back playing basketball for his second season and it’s obvious that he’s improved. He’s always been a great passer and defender but his dribbling and shooting is getting better. I feel bad because we don’t have a basketball goal for him at home to practice on. Our driveway is too inclined for one. We do have a membership to a local gym that has courts but we don’t get over that much. What he’s doing now he’s literally picked up in the few practices and games he’s had this season. I would like to work with him more. If he gets my height and keeps his athleticism he’ll be a very good point guard if we can get him the ball handling skills necessary for it.

Kings Island Winterfest

It was incredibly cold which made for a wonderful night at Kings Island’s Winterfest. I am glad we went Saturday instead of Sunday, which was unseasonably warm and brought enormous crowds. The cold night we visited kept everything open but by the end of the parade everyone left the park. The boys were able to knock out a few rides. We grabbed Skyline for a late meal before we left. We also saw my wife’s cousin perform at Fest Haus. Evidently the performers have groupies! It was interesting seeing all of the people who wanted to talk to the performers afterwards to give them hugs. They recognized many of them as repeat visitors. I also saw my wife’s cousin talk to a small girl in a wheelchair which melted my heart. Evidently she was blind but loved hearing them sing so her parents brought her to the park to hear them perform as much as possible.

One interesting development was that Ted now likes Panda Express. He’s quickly expanding his palette and trying so many new foods now. Gone are the days when all he would eat were chicken tenders (even had a specific brand). Thanks goodness. Not a great fit when your parents are foodies!

Northern Kentucky SWAT Visits Cub Scouts

The SWAT team came to our Cub Scout program to meet the kids and talk about what they do. It was a wonderful event. The Scouts were incredibly enthused and asked lots of great questions. Last year we had a resource officer from Covington Police Department. We are very thankful when they come join us for an evening with the Scouts! I will drop a thank on Linked In, hopefully one of their supervisors will also see it.
