Cub Scout Game Day, Training Updates, Other Updates
Cub Scout Game Day
One of my favorite events of the year and what I got to add as Cubmaster. Game Day is really a Pack bonding experience where all the scouts get together and play various games together. The people leading the event now are really expanding it and adding chess tournaments and a min-DnD session. We had a lot of fun there and did a hike also. Afterwards we had to leave right after eating so we could attend my nephew’s birthday party. I didn’t realize how tired I was from the hike. Speaking of which, I did great on Cardiac Hill and made it to the top without stopping. I am pretty proud of that, given how I used to huff and puff up that thing and wish for death before the end of it. Some people don’t even walk up it, they will drive their car around and park at the top. I hope that never becomes me!
Training Update
My weight lifting is now being supplemented with more cardio. I am now fitting in an extra 30 minutes of walking during my lunch break. I already swim now 3 times a week but beyond that my cardio is kind of light. I’ve rearranged this a bunch of times to take advantage of my energy. For example, I swapped cardio into Friday because I was too tired for my heavy lifting on Saturday otherwise. My schedule is starting to take more shape –
- Monday – 60 minutes light weight lifting (cables), 30 minutes walking
- Tuesday – 60 minutes swim (2000M), 30 minutes walking
- Wednesday – 60 minutes medium weight lifting (free weight), 30 minutes walking
- Thursday – 60 minutes swim (2000M), 30 minutes walking
- Friday – 60 minutes cardio (elliptical), 30 minutes walking
- Saturday – 120 minutes heavy weight lifting (plates), 120 minutes walking
- Sunday – 60 minutes swim (2000M), 120 minutes walking
Food wise I am taking a protein supplement when I lift. I am also blending fruits and vegetables. I don’t drink alcohol or soda. I am cleaning my diet up a lot (thanks Costco!)
Updates
Am I the only on exhausted with the news already? I already refuse to watch cable TV news, but written news is wearing me out also. We are living in unprecedented times. I really want times to go back to precedented again, if at all possible. I would also like the end of politics as sports, where people root against others regardless of their platform.
I successfully updated my computer to Windows 11. I hate it. It reminds me of Chrome in some regards. I don’t like the adds that are embedded. Upgrading wasn’t fun though, I had to change a setting on my motherboard to get it to work. I had to use ChatGPT to figure it out, the instructions from Microsoft sucks. They really want you to purchase a new computer instead. I personally think this will be hard on Windows and push people to Mac. Giving up security updates, and yes I realize Windows 10 is older than what we think, but too many machines are running it and the those machines are pricey.
What happens when AI starts selling tailored marketing results like Google does? This is really the way to monetize search in AI. Also, I’ve started using Perplexity alongside ChatGPT, mostly for web search now. If you can buy results in AI what does that do to people’s perception of it? I am also seeing AI services in some of the apps that I use with big upcharges for them. For example, I use Stoic, which is a daily logging app. It runs me around $35 dollars a year. Everyday I log into the app and lay out my day. It also gives me a prompt to think about that is meant to challenge or give me insight. The AI upgrade is $99 and I guess it’s some kind of analysis on what you write? Like a cyber-shrink?
