Work Dinner, Easter Weekend, Biking Day

Lots Of Work

I didn’t get much done this week as I was on a project for work that needed to get delivered on time (I got it out). I coached Ben’s soccer team for a practice and that was fun. I’ve not coached a soccer team in awhile and it was my favorite players, six year old children. They are always so enthusiastic and respond well to positive reinforcement. They can get a little tired and need an emotional break or two so you need to manage that, but overall they are fun to be around and can be quite funny.

Work Dinner

I also met some coworkers this week for dinner. We had a wonderful time together. I typically do not like work functions. I already struggle in social situations as it is and throw in a confusing matrix of work relationships and hierarchy and it’s no fun. I went to this more open minded and just decided I wanted to be around adults and this was my chance. We had lots of laughs. I’ll also say that Yard House provided the best rib-eye steak I’ve had in quite a while.

Credit Card

We are dealing with the aftermath of a missing credit card. I did not realize it was missing until we received a fraud alert from our bank. We’ve been able to make it work so far and the charges are getting refunded to us. I suspect it fell out of my pocket when I was at the restaurant Monday for our work event. The band on my wallet is coming loose and I think it slid out. There were probably 40 charges made in 24 hours against the card. They started off slow, purchasing food and vape products, then realized no one was catching on and started charging some big purchases at Kenwood Mall. I am curious if it was found by a homeless person when I walked to the car and then sold to someone who took it shopping and tried to get more out of it.

Easter Weekend

We were able to see much family over the weekend. On Saturday we had a rare appearance from my uncle’s ex-wife, who was a favorite aunt of mine growing up. We don’t get to see her much because my uncle is bitter about their divorce (which was like 25 years ago), but since he’s being a baby about his relationship with some of our cousins we decided to exclude him and invite her instead to my sister’s house. On Sunday we met my wife’s family and ate dinner there and had an Easter egg hunt for the little ones which was cute.

I am still trying to process my feelings about the Church service. We attended the 8:00 AM service because we expected them to be busy. Unfortunately they spent very little time talking about the resurrection of Jesus and the entire time asking for sponsorships for an African youth ministry. I get it, that is a nice gesture and thing to do, but of all the weekends why Easter Sunday? I had my boys there with me and it was a great chance to hear the word about Jesus rising from the grave, which is a subject they are trying to wrap their minds about, but nothing beyond two sentences were said about it. I’m not sure if this is a blown opportunity or what, but this just wasn’t what I expected to spend our church service discussing.

Cub Scout Biking Day, Troop Meeting

What a fun a little event! The entire pack went out and rode bikes together at Pioneer Park. Ben is ready to get those training wheels off I think, and he may get a bike for his birthday. I’ll also say we had a great Troop meeting this week also. The scouts made quesadillas and learned how to cook and are preparing for their May campout. I’ll also add that I’m not planning on staying the night for that campout, this will be Ted’s first campout alone. I also volunteered to run membership for the Troop but I’m leaning towards not doing that now because I am in the early process of applying for a master program at NKU.

Other Updates

Wrestlemania was kind of a bummer, I’m not sure yet what my feelings are on it. Cody Rhodes didn’t come out of that match looking great, but it does raise questions of what the storyline is going to be coming out of it. I do think Cody’s schtick got a little repetitive. Same song, same coming out in a suit, same “what do you want to talk about” over and over, and rarely wrestling. The new feud created with Paul Haymond, CM Punk, and Roman Reigns was great. Is Seth Rollins ready to get a big push from it? What about Dirty Dom and the Judgement Day? Liz lost her title, and Finn and Dom now have beef from their match, I guess that was inevitable. The crowd seemed to like that Dom won out. And what about Drew decimating Damian Priest? Is Drew the new big bad? I understand Rusev is back, I must’ve missed that one, and I’m not sure that’s a great add, he is OK. The Rando Orton match was lame, probably the weakest of the weekend. It was basically a squash match against a TNA opponent.
