COSI – Center Of Science And Industry 2022

COSI is now an annual visit for us during the summer. The boys love visiting it and exploring the museum. There is so much for them to do. This year I got a special treat during our visit when we saw the Marvel – Universe of Super Heroes exhibit. Honestly it blew my mind. I wasn’t expecting much but was treated to rare comic books, artwork, and movie props and costumes. They really had everything there. When you walk in you are treated to the very first Marvel comic ever. That thing is worth over a million dollars. I’d never have seen that in person honestly without this exhibit. I also saw so many movie costumes. You don’t realize how thin those actors are in real life, both men and women too. There was just so much to see, and given I had low expectations going in, was floored by the end of it. I also got a Punisher t-shirt on our way out too. He’s my second favorite Marvel character after Wolverine. Some of the cool stuff I liked –

  • Lots of original cover workups that showed the white outs and cropping in of words or other characters. You got to understand the editing of the artwork before things went to publication. I guess I always thought the thing was drawn I didn’t realize there were so many lay ins.
  • Costumes and props used in Iron Man, Spiderman (Sony and Disney), Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America, Daredevil (Netflix), Thor, Dr. Strange, and Spiderman
  • Lots of fun photo opportunities including Black Panther, Incredible Hulk and Spiderman

We are starting to get to know our way around Columbus. We talked about it as an alternative place to live, especially with the Intel Fab coming in the next few years and what that will mean for technology around Columbus. Ohio really got a win when they landed that investment for sure. Columbus is really nice, but every area has its nicer areas. Dublin is really the best part of Columbus we’ve seen so far, and I wouldn’t mind living there and working for Cardinal Health, which I’ve worked with in the past on hospital supply contracts when I was an analyst. Wendy’s is also there with a corporate headquarters and innovation center and I am sure some type of accounting or finance role could be found. The only bad part of Columbus is you are really far out from any public lands. Yes, you are a little closer to Michigan and Ohio’s north coast but limited on much of anything else. Not that we get out much mind you but moving would put an extra 2 hour drive to places like Red River Gorge, the Great Smokey Mountains, and Big South Fork to name a few.
